A good self-introduction is short, clear and confident. Whether it is a job interview or a new class, the same formula works.
The 4-part formula
- Name and greeting: "Hello, my name is Rupesh."
- Where you are from: "I am from Panvel, near Mumbai."
- What you do: "I work as a web developer."
- A friendly close: "Nice to meet you."
At a job interview
"Good morning. I am Rupesh Patil. I have three years of experience in web development. I enjoy building simple tools that help people. Thank you for this opportunity."
At a party or class
"Hi, I am Rupesh. I live in Panvel. I like playing cricket and learning languages. What about you?"
Common mistakes
Speaking too fast is the biggest error. Slow down. Pause after each sentence. It shows confidence even if your grammar is simple.
Practice with shadowing
Listen to a native speaker say an introduction, then copy the rhythm exactly. The SpeakNow shadowing tool helps you match speed and stress. Do this for 5 minutes daily.
Build your own template
Write your introduction on paper. Memorise it. Then change one detail each time you practice so it feels natural, not robotic.
A strong introduction takes 30 seconds but creates a lasting impression. Invest the time.
